Vietnam ratifies trans-Pacific trade pact CPTPP
Vietnam’s 14th National Assembly recently adopted a resolution ratifying the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) with 96.7 per cent of votes in favour. The sixth session of the National Assembly is under way now. The resolution features four articles, including regulations on supervising the implementation process.
The National Assembly has assigned the government, the Supreme People’s Court, the Supreme People’s Procuracy and other relevant organisations and agencies to review the laws and other legal documents in accordance with the roadmap for implementing the CPTPP commitments.
The prime minister will be responsible for approving the plans for CPTPP’s implementation, according to a Vietnamese English-language newspaper.
The resolution also requests the timely dissemination of the full content of the pact in order to create a consensus in awareness and action among the entire political system, businesses and the people. (DS
